| “Boot Camp” Released: Mac Poker Player Rejoice Apple’s new process of performing a dual boot on a Mac is now possible on the Intel processors using “Boot Camp”. The beta for Boot camp has officially been released by Apple. The revolutionary concept has been long sought out by Mac users needing to perform Windows applications on their Macintosh.
Boot Camp will perform a partition of the hard drive splitting it with one side for Mac OS X and the other side for Windows. Mac users will need to purchase Windows software as it will not be supplied by Apple.
Some Mac users are saying this will revolutionize the way they play online poker. Users can now play at Windows based poker rooms without using Virtual PC which is known to not function very well when playing online poker. Virtual PC was very sluggish and disconnects where very common.
Installation of Boot Camp seems to be quite simple with users needing to upgrade a few minor things to proceed. One thing that Mac users must need is the Intel chip if they want to run Boot Camp. Older version of Macs will not be able to dual boot.
Apple also warns Mac users that although their Windows software will be running on a Macintosh computer they can still get viruses and worms on their software. The viruses can not affect their Mac operating system but can definitely affect the Windows files.
Meanwhile, Apple says the name “Boot Camp” will not stick and they will be renaming it at a later date once they fix all the bugs in the beta.
