| 2 Million Tourney at Titan but Not Mac Compatible Online poker rooms are certainly upping the antes when it comes to tournaments and prizes this year as we are seeing with Titan Poker.
Compared to this time last year, when the industry was still reeling from the anti-gambling UIGEA legislation in the United States, the poker market seems to be on its way to a full recovery. Poker rooms are reporting record-breaking traffic numbers and the size of guaranteed prize pools and poker tournament winnings are also reaching mega proportions.
One poker site that is definitely leading the pack when it comes to awarding prizes is Titan Poker (not Mac compatible). This poker room is well known in the industry for running exclusive tournaments, offering entry seats as prizes into the poker world’s biggest events, and going all out when determining just how much it is prepared to give away as guaranteed prize money.
This week, Titan Poker announced that would be launching a tournament in March, 2008 in which players will be able to grab a piece of the two million dollars in the guaranteed prize pool. Players are able to enter this event in two different ways: Either through winning their seats in sit and go tournaments leading up to the main tournament, or through a buy-in into the main event. Titan Poker, which works off the successful i-Poker Network, may well be the site to give away the biggest prize in a tournament in 2008.
The most recent event organized and held by Titan Poker was the Tournament Titan. This whopping one million dollar free-roll event is traditionally open to only twenty skilled poker players in the industry. The event was eventually won by Canadian Sorel Mizzi, one of the greatest online poker players in the world, who, according to his own admission, does not understand math and does not even know what pot odds are.
Titan Poker, which recently gave away more than $2.5-million over a course of 10 days as host of the successful European Championships of Online Poker (ECOOP), is also well known for sending online poker players to popular land-based events. Winners have been lucky enough to participate in industry favorites such as the World Series of Poker event, and this year players will stand in line to win participation seats in the Irish Open and Aussie Millions.
