| Apple Issues 2006 Q3 Revenue Reports The 3rd quarter revenue reports have been released by Apple with a positive gain. The results seem to be very promising with a 3rd quarter $472 million dollar profit. The numbers show an increase of $152 million from previous years’ quarter. Revenues for this quarter were $4.37 billion compared to last years $3.52 billion.
Over 1.3 million Macintosh computers were shipped out during this quarter and over 8.1 million iPods. The growth shows 12% gain in the Macintosh system market and 32% in the iPod product market.
Most of the Apple Macintosh platforms sold during the period were Intel based. The iPod continues to be the leader in MP3 players with 75% market share being held by the Apple iPod. These figures could change slightly once the Microsoft Argo is released.
Apple’s CFO seems to be predicting high quarter gains for the fourth quarter. He estimates revenues to increase by 4% which would equate to a $180 million dollar gain next quarter.
Strong laptop sales seem to be spurring the growth of the Macintosh computers while desktop purchases seem stagnant and dropping.
Analysts were predicting less than positive outcomes before this quarters figure release. Stock prices dropped because of the potential concern.
Mac users and investors look forward to what Quarter 4 iPod’s bring in terms of new products and revenues.
