| New Crypto and PKR Features Online poker rooms are not only competing with live poker but also with each other and therefore the need to innovate is high.
Recently two organizations have announced the introduction of new features. One is Cryptologic Ltd., which provides software for online poker rooms and the other is PKR, a popular online poker room. Crypto logic has come up with two features. The first enables players to host private tournaments. The host can choose the players he wants to play with, the games he wants to play, the stakes he wants to play for and the time according his convenience. It will be just like arranging a poker game at home. The process is simple. A button in the lobby of the Cryptologic online poker room will open the private tournament setup window. The player then sets up the game and sends an e-mail invite to his friends. The software restricts participation only to those who have been invited. The second feature is a sorting and filtering tool that makes searching for desired tables easier and quicker. The players can customize the lobbies of the Cryptologic online poker rooms they play at only to include the kinds of games they are interested in. The sorting can be done according to game type, game speed, stakes, currency, maximum number of players and preferred start time. This way players do not have to sift through unwanted and irrelevant information.
Speaking about these changes Brian Hadfield, Cryptologic President and CEO, said, “For Cryptologic, everything starts with the customer experience - and today we introduce a tool that will let players take their poker game to a whole new level”. Players had been asking for this flexibility and Cryptologic has delivered. These features will be available in all online poker rooms powered by Cryptologic.
PKR has introduced a new phase tournaments that offers the twin advantages of fast-paced excitement of sit-and-gos and the opportunity of winning huge payouts from small buy-ins. This is in addition to the two phase tournaments already on offer. The existing tournaments are the 10-seat tourneys and heads-up tourneys. The new introduction is the Elite Heads-Up. This tournament will give players the chance of winning big cash prizes for a small buy-ins. The normal heads up tournament has a buy-in of only $3.80. Winners of Phase 9 of this tournament will now be given an option to enter Phase 1 of the Elite tournament absolutely free and compete with those that have paid the higher buy-in and set themselves to win the larger prizes. As in the case of Cryptologic, this suggestion has come from the players through postings and discussions in the PKR forums. The experts at PKR then work on these suggestions to deliver new and challenging games. PKR card room manager Neil Wright hints at more changes in the near future. He said, “We're continually looking for original and interesting game structures and have a few ideas in the pipeline which should find their way to the PKR.com lobby soon.”
