| Apple MacBook Hackable Word is spreading that hackers now have the capability to hack into MacBook laptops by using an issue with the wireless device driver. David Maynor and Jon Ellch are two hackers that proved the ability to hack into the MacBook wireless device driver.
The flaws are specific to the MacBook but similar threats have been found in the device drivers that are running the Windows operating system.
These two hackers stated that the computer could be compromised simply by turning the device on. This is the case because most wireless cards are set to search out for available networks in the area automatically.
The cause of such flaws in the code is due to programmers rushing equipment to the market often overlooking potential threats for a speedier product launch.
Atheros is the company which provides Apple Macintosh with their device drivers. Atheros does not only produce drivers for Apple but other drivers specific to certain operating systems.
Microsoft is going through a similar problem with Windows Vista in which they are testing potential for security breaches in their OS.
The problem is being addressed by both Microsoft and Apple. Unfortunately the fix is not the real problem but finding an easy way for customers to upgrade the software is difficult.
Experts are suggesting MacBook users to turn off the search for available network button.
The threat of a security breach has not yet been mass introduced in the real world but Maynor and Ellch have show that it is possible.
