| British Entrepreneur - Poker Tours in the Pipeline Poker players who love to combine their (poker) business with pleasure may be happy to hear the following news:
The British entrepreneur and creator of the successful Nuts Poker League has announced that he has partnered with a travel company in the United Kingdom with the intention of building tailor-made poker tours to fun destinations and resorts around the word. Steve Bellis hit on the idea when he searched for poker tours on the internet and immediately noticed that there was a huge gap in the market for lighter types of tours, where players could get together with others at their playing level at a relaxing holiday destination, with the possibility of even bringing their families with them.
In 2007, fifty players joined together and formed an informal tour at the Sands Beach Resort in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. Hellis said that this meeting was so successful that his new venture with the Holywell travel business will take another group of poker players – possibly as many as 120 players - just prior to summer, 2008. “Lot of places have karaoke and bingo but there are lots of people who want to play poker,” said Bellis.
Steve Bellis first caught the public’s eye when he appeared on British reality television. His next business venture was to create a pub poker league, called the Nuts Poker League, which is growing at an increasingly strong pace with each passing month. Said Bellis of the Leauge’s success: "The business is going through the roof and at the moment. We have people playing from Cornwall all the way up to Scotland. It's growing by the day."
The British police were not too keen on the Nuts Poker League initially, even causing them to send warning letters to local pubs, telling them the poker league concept was against the law. Bellis was quick to counter this claim, showing the police that since gambling for real money was not taking place (the league uses nuts instead, hence its name), there was nothing illegal about the league. The police have since withdrawn their letters to the pubs, leaving Bellis to concentrate on his future business options.
