Celebration TimeIt was time to celebrate last week as we finally recovered from problems arising from Google and its ranking of poker sites.
Three months ago we were in the depths of the rankings but as of a few days ago, are back on track. This is what we did to celebrate (pics included of course). I'm not joking when I say I would check google rankings to see if our (page 6) Google penalty (GP) would disappear. Well finally after 3 months we popped back up to where we used to be.
Those not familiar with web marketing, Google traffic is usually the "make or break" of a website in terms of getting visitors to your site. Its not the case for Compatiblepoker but it does have a large impact on our site.
So enough of the BS, what did we do to celebrate? Well of course we had to play some poker....after I went to the gym because I was so pumped up from the excitement of seeing our site back in the search results.
I called my friend Jasper and we headed to the local poker room down here in Florida, "Best Bet". It's a dinky little place with the best game being $2/2 NL with a max buy-in of $100, hahaha. It's a fun place to get drunk and make fun of the people wearing their Full Tilt gear and wearing their headphones over a few bucks.
I'm not a huge drinker, but when it comes to playing poker I can't play without getting drunk. The people at the table started to get a little upset when we started raising all-in preflop with 2 5 offsuit and crap like that. We were there to gamble and just have fun. Of course some guy gets all upset because I ended up winning a hand after calling his raise with rags and flopping two pair.
He proceeded to call me a terrible poker player and that he was a "professional"....the guy was straight out of Rounders acting like Matt Damon. Because most pros play poker in Florida at the $100 max buy-ins at Florida, right? I called him out, he said, "I have a G in the car if you want to play for real money." I told him to multiply that by 100 and he'd have a game. That shut him up for the rest of the night. I'm not one to flaunt money but this guy was being a dick when we were being polite and basically giving the table free money.
After that we headed to the Brix, a local club with some friends. Here is Scott (great golfer and friend who lives with me), Jasper (good friend) and me on the right (obviously drunk, hence the closed eyes).

And this ladies and gentlemen is how you end the night. Face down passed out on the couch....ready to go surfing the next morning. :)

Later,
Roger
