I'll put this in one of my "good problems to have" class. Over the past 6 months to a year I've been looking at purchasing a new home.

The problems is, where I live there are very few good places to live and I'm extremely picky when it comes to a house, because it's where I work, live and spend most of my time.

I refuse to live any further than a mile from the ocean, even if I have to live in a dumpster, ha.  Growing up on the beach I just can't live without it, my sense of direction doesn't seem right living inland or "across the bridge".

The picture to the right is a house I've been thinking about getting for almost 6 months.  One problem with houses in Ponte Vedra where I live is that if you want to live close to the beach, you have to deal with road noise and this house is no exception.  The back of the house sets next to a road called A1A which gets a decent amount of traffic.  It's only a few hundred feet from the ocean so the location is ideal barring the road noise.

The house is pretty cool with the ability to have a theater room upstairs and it's got a nice office (a must for me).  The problem is the road noise.  I'd been looking into sound proof fences and building a sick tropical style pool with a waterfall to drown out the sound.  Im just not sure I want to risk doing all that and it still sound like a freight train is driving through my backyard at night everytime a truck drives by.

It's amazing how pricey the houses are anywhere near the beach too.  You can have a million dollar house next to the beach that if it was 1 mile inland it would probably get condemned before someone bought it.

I looked at a house today which looked liked it belonged in cribs, the place was sick.  The thing is you come out of the driveway and you have houses that were built in the 80's that look like they could literally rot away in a couple years.  Thats the problem on the beach, you have million dollar homes next to some of the biggest dumps you could imagine.

So I think my best bet is to buy land where there aren't crack houses next door and build something like the one pictured above that I looked at today.  There is some sweet land in Ponte Vedra that is 100 yards from the beach and over looks an Estuary which has great fishing and is just a cool place in general.  Im getting tired of working out of my living room!
