‘Studs of Poker’ is a new column being written by Michele Lewis.

On her web page Michele Lewis is described as ‘mother, wife, volunteer, writer & poker player’.

Whereas mother, wife and volunteer are in her private domain and she has limitations as a poker player, as a writer Michele is brilliant. Especially when she is writing about the personalities that make up the world of poker.

Her ‘Girl on Girl’ series written for Wicked Chops Poker during the WSOP 2008 is fascinating to say the least. She has picked the most pulsating women in poker today and has gone under their skins to find out what makes them tick – in the world of poker and outside it. Maria Ho, Liz Lieu and Jennifer Leigh have all come under her scanner. Whether it was Jennifer talking about her shoot with Playboy or it was Maria Ho talking about Tiffany Michelle it was done with a flair and dignity par excellence.

Michele’s latest take is the ‘Studs of Poker’. It is about ‘random people in the poker industry’ - players, writers, photographers, agents, entrepreneurs and even fans. Every week Michele will write about the Stud of the Week and end it with the Stud of the Year.

And the stud need not be a male. There will be female studs as well. Michele is open to nominations but reserves the right to accept or refuse. Those who would like to send suggestions should go through Michele’s requirements of a stud. Michele writes, “Studs Must Posses at least one or more of the following: Have a record of tournament winnings; Be a well known successful cash player within the poker industry; Be an experienced well liked employee in a poker room and or tournament or Must have contributed something positive and or beneficial to the poker world such as improving rulings, media, successful charity events, marketing or providing a service such as informative news content.” Michele adds that these criteria are subject to change without notice and that possessing more than one of the criteria will increase the chances of becoming a stud. In her typical tongue-in-cheek manner, Michele says that being paid a fat fee would probably influence her choice.

Amnon Fillipi, Pauly McGuire, Eric Morris, Jeffrey Pollack and Joe Sebok are the studs already featured. Fillipi qualified because of his tournament winnings that included six cashes during WSOP 2008 though his sense of humor must have helped. During the chat with Michele, Fillipi let out that his favorite game is seven-card stud, that he loves Vietnamese food and that he is not single. Pauly McGuire represents the media according to Michele. What McGuire did before he entered the world of poker was more interesting because that is the part of his life that is less known. This included being a security guard at a museum and a manager of an adult sex store.

Michele’s male fans, and she has many, are now asking that when will Michele fulfill her promise of featuring some of the female studs of poker.
