Windows based poker sites
Many poker rooms were built to run on Windows. To play poker on a Mac using one of these Windows based poker rooms you must use the Virtual PC software also called a PC emulator. Some players have had success using SoftWindows as well. Otherwise, non Windows users must choose the Mac, Linux, or Java based poker rooms.
One of the larger sites, Party Poker, still tends to be the most popular rooms. They have quick support if you have technical problems and for that reason I'd suggest them.

Common Problems for Users
Mac Users - In order to play at these poker rooms you must perform a Dual Boot or run a PC emulator. These poker rooms do not support OS X without doing so. A PC emulator is recommended for non Intel Mac users. Intel Mac users should perform a dual boot instead of running a PC emulator. Dual Boots can only be done on Intel Macs.
AOL Users - If you can not connect the poker software you will have to contact your provider and have them enable TCP/IP. It is easy, just call AOL or whomever you buy your internet from and tell them you want TCP/IP installed so you can download poker software.
If this does not work try downloading Internet Explorer as a browser instead of AOL. Just because AOL provides you with internet does not mean you have to use AOL as an internet browser. Internet explorer is another way to search the internet and may be better than AOL when trying to play online poker.
Windows 95 or NT Users - Older Windows software can create problems when playing online poker. A lot of online poker rooms will not support Windows 95 or NT. If you notice that you can not download the poker software this is the problem. We suggest either upgrading Windows or playing at a Java based poker room.
