| Renting Movies on iTunes Expectations of Apple integrating movie rentals for iTunes will be announced at the WWDC, Thinksecret.com reports. Apple has worked out deals with most of the major movie companies such as Walt Disney and Warner Bros. just to name a few. Movies will be available for rental and not purchase with iTunes.
The announcement has yet to be made but Thinksecret.com reportedly says that Apple will announce this development at the WorldWide Developers Conference.
The WorldWide Developers Conference will take place 18 days from now on August 7th. At this time Apple will likely announce most of the deals they have in place for the movie rentals.
The video rentals will be programmed to only allow viewing past a certain date. It could also be likely that viewing could be available past the “delete date” for 1 viewing if the movie has not yet been watched.
The logistics of the movie rentals are all speculation until Apple releases full details about the program.
Previously Apple was trying to persuade the bigger movie companies to allow customers to purchase the videos from iTunes. Apple instead is going the rental route after possible unsuccessful attempts to persuade purchasing agreements.
Split reactions are present among customers. Some Apple users fear the potential of poor video quality while others hope the innovation brings cheaper rental alternatives.
