Absolute Poker Cheaters? Doubledrag – Graycat

Absolute Poker Cheaters? Doubledrag - GraycatAbsolute Poker Cheaters? Doubledrag – GraycatOn just about any forum you read right now the hottest topic you read is about an “Absolute Poker Cheating Scandal” brewing.

At first I wasn’t going to make a post about this but I thought our users should get our input and facts on the matter since AP is one of our main sponsors.

Rumors of online poker cheats are usually left to the conspiracy theorists but the latest rumor of  ”superuser” accounts at Absolute Poker spread virally.

To sum things up there is an alleged account where certain upper level owners at Absolute Poker can log-in and see opponents hole cards.  Mark Seif is being thrown in the mix and as it turns out he was accused of the same sort of thing last year.

There are two things that are adding fuel to this fire.  First thing is that the high stakes players who are making these accusations are known among most communities as long time posters and non-conspiracy theorists.

Secondly, poker tracker histories of the alleged fraudualent accounts show some strange evidence that lean toward the rumor being possibly true.

At one forum a thread started this week grew to a 70 page monster thread until it was finally locked because, frankly, no-one is going to read 70 pages of nonsense when it can be summed up in a couple cliff notes.

Ok so those are the facts.  Now let’s consider some other things.  If there is a superuser account only a very select few people would have access to this account.

Yes, if true this would be one of the biggest scandals in online poker, that was unveiled at least.  The thing is the truth will never come out.  There is no 3rd party security auditing system at poker sites so the people saying their security wasn’t breached would likely be the ones breaching the security.

Lastly, let’s consider this.  How many people actually play high stakes online poker?  The level of collusion going on at mid to upper level stakes is beyond rediculous that you’d be better off taking your chances with someone seeing your hole cards than not worrying about being colluded.

These multi-account cheaters and colluders are found out all the time.  One of the first major cases occured with Justin Bonomo in the Poker Stars and Party Poker cheating multi-account bust.

In closing Absolute Poker nor any managers have yet to come forward to make statements.  If you were Mark Seif and people were claiming you were one of the biggest cheaters online poker has ever seen wouldn’t you want to make some sort of statement?

When it’s all said and done whether this was all false rumors or not Absolute Poker stands to lose a lot of players.  Not because they might have been falsely accused but because their lack of damage control.
