Absolute Poker Down, Ultimate Bet Down, People Still Playing There

Both the poker sites Absolute Poker, and Ultimate Bet are down. This as you are probably aware by now has been caused by the US department of Justice shutting them down, but why is Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker back up and not AP and UB (both which are run by the same “Cereus” company).

What’s even more strange is that despite the closure of the domains, seizure of many of their companies bank accounts, and actual pop-ups on the poker site that say you can’t sit down for real money, you CAN in fact play for real money. After clicking on a seat to play you get a pop-up saying you can’t play if located in the United States, as soon as you click ok it sits you down at the table.

There has been rumors that Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker are in the same talks with the Department of Justice to get their domains back but why so long compared to the others, and why are they continuing US play? Are they going to go the route of letting US players continue to play and just open up a non-confiscatable domain?

With the poker software seemingly to be inaccessible for new players unless the programs were already on the players computers, no new customers from the world should be able to access the poker site.

For now the game continues, just not at Poker Stars, or Full Tilt Poker.

The top poker sites are now the following:

1. Cakepoker.com

Many, including myself believe the game is just starting. This year could be very interesting for online poker players. While some believe the online game might be over, myself and many other industry analysis’s believe the “true” game is just beginning.
