Absolute Poker Introduces Synchronized Breaks

What do you do if you’re in the middle of an online poker tournament and you absolutely have to go the bathroom? Do you stop to go, or do you continue so that you don’t miss out on valuable game play against your opponents?

The Cereus Poker Network ie: Absolutepoker.com became the latest group to introduce synchronized breaks to its tournament schedules, following increased demand from their players who indicated their need for these types of changes.

Synchronized breaks essentially mean that after a tournament has been running for 55 minutes, a break will be initiated by the online poker room across the board so that the player’s enjoy a synchronized rest.

The new feature is available at the two online poker rooms that make up the Cereus Poker Network, namely Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker.

In order to avoid frustrating players, the network has made several exceptions to this synchronized break rule. For example, if a regular tournament is still in the first blind level when the first synchronized break is due to take place, the site will skip the break.

Cereus also said that it would not include multi table sit and go tournaments in this new format at this stage.

Cerus is not the first network to introduce synchronized breaks. Sites such as Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker have been running this feature for several months ago. Full Tilt started them in April 2009 and Poker Stars updated its software to include these changes in August.

While sync breaks are not without their hitches, especially in the first stages that they are introduced to an online poker site (as seen at Full Tilt and Poker Stars in their first few weeks), these are definitely welcome additions and give players more quality gaming overall.

Another change introduced by Ultimate Bet is its ‘raise logic’ button, which has been updated to a ‘raise to’ button. This makes increasing the price of poker much easier. “Players can now raise to a desired amount without having to add their initial bet, which is already on the table,” explains the update log. “Raising is as easy as entering the amount you wish to raise to and clicking the ‘Raise To’ button. This is in line with industry standards.”
