In a scenario reminiscent of the weeks and months following the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, another major player in the US gambling market has announced, albeit indirectly, that it is closing shop. News has it that Rival Gaming communicated to its affiliates that its licensee casinos would not be accepting any more new players from the United States. Last week, AffiliateWide, an affiliate program which works with Rival Gaming, said in a statement:
“We have received notification from our software provider, Rival, that as from 7th August we will no longer be able to accept new US player registrations. Please note your existing US players will still be able to deposit and you will continue to earn commission on player generated revenues.”
AffiliateWide went on to inform its partners that it has opted to switch brands to another software provider, Top Game which continues to operate in the United States.
As such, no new US players will be accepted to online casinos such as Spartan Slots, Black Diamond Casino and Box24 Casino. These sites will continue to run Rival Games until the switch over date of August 15th, after which time players will be able to wager on Top Game titles only.
In similar news, Real Time Gaming powered Intertops also made a Black Friday related decision to change its domain from .com to .eu. Although the group stated that this was to “improve over accessibility, reliability and level of service”, it is believed that the decision is based on a fear of the long arm of the US Department of Justice.
