Andreas Oscarsson Poker Affiliate Mogul Murdered

It’s the thing that Hollywood movies are made of. A young internet genius with a penchant for poker founds the biggest poker portal online, makes himself an incredible amount of money, and then – for reasons still unknown – gets murdered in his own home at the tragic young age of 36.

Andreas Oscarsson, the founder of PokerListings.com ( a poker affiliate website that generates millions in revenues per month), was found dead in his house in Sweden on August 3rd. The police say that he was shot to death and it is believed that this was a targeted assassination and not simply a botched burglary.

The police have not confirmed that Oscarsson was targeted, nor have any of the media reports given concrete evidence that the poker mogul was hit by the mob, but by the number of theories going around, one thing is for sure – nobody was surprised that Oscarsson found his untimely demise in this manner.

The poker forums on the internet have been buzzing with the news of the murder ever since it was announced. Members of TwoPlusTwo noted that the Swedish police alleged that the murder had something to do with Oscarsson’s past and that things had “caught up with him” in this way.

Bluff Europe Magazine reported that: “As of now there are no further details except that police are uncertain of the exact motive, but reports emanating from Sweden suggest ‘concrete threats’ were made towards Oscarsson, according to friends and colleagues in Stockholm and Gothenburg.”

One rumor even has it that last year, another Andreas Oscarsson was murdered in Sweden in what was, unfortunately for him, a case of mistaken identity. This time, it seems, the murderers got it right.

Oscarsson was considered a pioneer in the poker affiliate business and has always played an active role in the site he helped found. After his son was born two years ago, Oscarsson relinquished full control of PokerListings.com but still remained on in an advisory role.

The Swede was also a gifted poker player himself, having won a World Series of Poker bracelet in 2005.

A tribute to Oscarsson on the PokerListings.com site read: “He was a true pioneer within the industry; his vision with PokerListings.com was to build a world-leading online gambling company. We shall not let him down, and will bring his vision all the way to the finish line in honor of his memory – you can take that to the bank.”
