With anticipation high that the the first legal and regulated real money online poker sites will be launched in Nevada in the coming months, many local businesses are already getting into the swing of things by launching free to play poker from their terrestrial establishments.
The latest to join this trend is the popular Startosphere Casino in Las Vegas which announced that it will be offering free to play poker from the resort. The Stratosphere is owned by American Casino and Entertainment Properties, which also operates Charlie’s Casino in Arizona.
The new free to play online poker platform, known as AcePLAYPoker.com, will also be available at other properties owned by the group.
While the poker platform will not be allowed to offer real money poker due to current federal laws in other states, players are still able to win prizes such as free stays across the group’s casino hotels. American Casino and Entertainment Properties, however, successfully applied for a license to operate real money online poker in Nevada and will eventually turn its free play platform into real money poker for local residents in due time.
The Director of Gaming Development for American Casino and Entertainment Properties, Alec Driscoll said about the launch of the online poker platform: “With the launch of this free to play website, we can now bring the excitement of play found at our properties to anyone with Internet access, no matter their location. We are also positioning ACEP and acePLAYpoker.com for the potential approval of legalized online gaming.”
In the meantime, local Vegas residents and visitors will be able to play for free at the Stratosphere and win thrill rides and show tickets to events at the casino resort.
