The American continents have never seen such action as they line up their best players to represent them in the newly announced Americas Cup of Poker. The event will be sponsored by Poker Stars, the online poker site with the biggest presence in the US American poker market, and is sure to bring superb entertainment to players and fans across the board.

From Monday, those wishing to take part in the inaugural Americas Cup of Poker will be able to enter the group stage by taking part in freerolls and super low limit buy in tournaments.

Poker Stars have placed countries into groups, and each week these countries will face a new challenger.

The Americas Cup of Poker will incorporate players from a good selection of countries on the two continents, including Mexico, Columbia, Chine, Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Argentina and, of course, the United States.

Wildcard tournaments will be held at Poker Stars throughout the time of the event, and players can give their own countries a boost by playing in these.

If players manage to make the top 100 spots in the daily freerolls and low limit tournaments run at the site, they will be able to score points for their countries.

The build up to the live final in Argentina will continue for a few weeks, with countries earning points throughout this time.

Round 1 of the matches will be played from July 27 to August 2, the second round from August 3 – 9 and the third and final round from August 10 to 16.

Once the group stage is over, the countries with the most points will come face to face at a Bariloche ski resort in the Andes region in Argentina. These teams will be made up of the five players who earned the highest number of points during the initial stages of the Americas Cup, as well as one member of the Team Pokerstars Pro.

And what will the winning country team take home? Poker Stars is giving away a $100K first place prize – a definite incentive for players to head on down to this poker site and start supporting their country today!
