Bluff Media Fires Managing Editor Chris VaughnEarly last week we reported about Bluff Magazine’s Managing editor Chris Vaughn caught in a cheating scandal at Full Tilt Poker.

During an interview with Poker News, Vaughn admitted he did in fact sell his poker account to Sorel”Imper1um”Mizzi and since then both players have been banned from the poker room and all winnings returned.

Players who heard about Chris’s cheating began to ask Bluff Media how they plan to move forward and what implications will this have for Chris. Bluff staff member “Bluff MagicEric” attempted to answer player’s questions by posting this statement on the forum;

“What an employee does during his or her own free time is none of our business. We do not have to agree with employees behavior, but punishing an employee for something they have done out side of the office is beyond our rights. We can only ask that they make better choices for themselves and hope they learn from what has occurred.”

This of course did not sit well with the majority of players and became a joke across most of the major poker forums. Now the company has taken the high road in releasing Chris from his daily duties and players are questioning if Bluff Media has taken this step based on Chris’s own indiscretions, or because the company has been scrutinized for being complacent in what he did in the first place.

Early this morning, Bluff Media’s Ian McKenzie posted a press release on the company’s website stating;

“Bluff Media, publisher of Bluff Magazine, has made the decision to terminate Chris Vaughn as Managing Editor. In light of Chris’ involvement, recently admitted facts and the feedback obtained from industry professionals, it became apparent that the credibility required to perform the job functions of Managing Editor of Bluff Magazine at our company’s level of standards have become severely diminished.

While we regret having to make this decision, we believe that it is the best alternative for all parties involved, including Chris, Bluff Media and the poker playing community at large. We wish Chris the best of luck.”

The question that remains is should Chris have lost his job for something that he did outside of his place of employment and where do we begin to draw the line on how to handle cheating in online poker? Chris is a highly respected writer in the poker community and we wish him the best of luck in future projects.
