Brandon Cantu Joins UB Team

As he enjoys the action at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, professional poker player, Brandon Cantu announced that he is joining the team at Ultimate Bet to become a member of Team UB. The 28 year old Cantu will be giving his own poker career a boost by joining iconic players such as Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth in the team and around the tables at WSOP.

‘This is an exhilarating time for Team UB,” said Annie Duke, speaking for UltimateBet.com. “We’re constantly on the lookout for poker players who have real integrity, unquestionable talent and an incredible passion for the game and we’ve found it all in Brandon Cantu.”

Cantu is no stranger to the world of poker, despite his relatively young age. He rushed onto the scene at the World Series of Poker tournament back in 2006, going from an anonymous player to the winner of the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘em event.

From that time on, the Washington born Cantu, has gone from strength to strength, adding title after title to his ever growing collection and earning himself quite a reputation for himself in the industry.

Besides taking home first place in the Ultimate Poker Challenge, Cantu has finished in the top ten of tournaments at least 14 different times. His talent lies in his diversity, as Cantu seems to be at home at a live event as well as online, where he frequently plays at Ultimate Bet where he is known at Bounty Hunter.

Cantu’s biggest win in his career may have been the World Poker Tour’s Shooting Star Championship event where he pocketed nearly $1 million last year. In an interview at the time, when asked if he actually believed that he’d win both a WSOP and a WPT title in a span of two years, Cantu replied: “No, I never thought that. Even before I won my bracelet I couldn’t even fathom winning the bracelet. After I won the bracelet, I thought, “Oh, God, it would just be so hard to ever go through that again.” To be honest, I didn’t know if I would ever, ever win a WPT event or a bracelet again. You have those doubts. You wonder if it’s just a one-time thing…? But it happened again. But, I don’t think you can be completely lucky twice. I think it validates your poker career when you get that second victory”

Ultimatebet announced earlier this week they will have a Mac poker software available within the next month. It is expected to have full upgrades as does the sister site, Absolutepoker.
