Joe Cada, who became the youngest poker player in the history of the World Series of Poker to win the Main Event when he beat Maryland logger, Darvin Moon in a nail biting finale, is lobbying for the introduction of a regulated, legalized online poker in the United States.

The 21 year old will meet with Rep. Candice Miller who represents Cada’s home state of Michigan to press the issue and present his arguments why a regulated industry in the United States would serve poker players and consumers.

Cada is also meeting with the rest of the Michigan delegation this week.

In a recent interview with Time Magazine, Cada expressed his strong opinion on the current legislation in the United States.

“I support the right to play poker online,” he said. “Poker isn’t gambling. It’s a hobby, an activity, a game. It’s not about luck – it’s about logic, decision-making, math.”

Cada’s visit to Capitol Hill is another major effort by the Poker Players Alliance to push the matter of a legalized poker regime in the country.

As unofficial ambassador for the PPA, Cada is hoping that his trip will successful.

“I’m meeting with the Congressmen for the PPA,” he said in an interview. “I’m still trying to get used to all of this.”

Among the other politicians Cada will meet are Linda Sanchez of California, a keen poker player and good friend of Annie Duke, as well as with Senator Debbi Stabenow (Michigan).

“We know that these members are interested in poker. They’re poker players themselves,” said John Pappas, Director of PPA. “This is to tell the story of the World Champion, the youngest winner in Main Event history.”

“I’m all for what they’re doing,” said Cada regarding the PPA’s Capitol Hill lobbying efforts. “I haven’t had too much contact with them, but hopefully that can change very soon. It would be good to meet a bunch of Congressman and speak with the PPA a lot more. It’s something I really hope I can help with.”
