The reason is that Merge and the payment platform, PIC Poker have been involved in a bitter dispute over money owed.

Las Vegas Casino Settles Poker Complaint at 100K

According to the complaint, the Palms allowed outside operators to run several tournaments in 2007, even though local law demands that no outside operators run events in state licensed casinos.
As a result, the Palms Casino agreed to pay 100,000 USD in penalty fees.
