The European Deep Stack Poker Championship, which is due to take place in Ireland at the beginning of February this year is drawing big names in the poker industry and thus generating much excitement.
The event’s organizers have confirmed that a good number of high profile players have signed up for the 1,500 Euros main poker event.
Included in the field are five members of the Hitsquad, Joe Beevers of Poker Million championship fame, Barney Boatman of the Hendon Mobsters and a number of others.
Live satellites for the championship, which will take place at the Drogheda Poker Club, Drogheda, from 2 – 10 February, 2008, began on January 16th already. The events will run at the Drogheda Poker Club, the Ace Club Buncrana and the Gold Club Letterkenny.
Players can also try their luck at online qualifiers. The organizers have rescheduled the online satellites so that there are now three more Grand Finals to win tickets to the main event that will begin on February 6th, and players can visit sites such as Paddy Power, Bluesquare, Blonde Poker and Green Joker Poker to have a go for the price of the entry fee only.
The European Deep Stack Poker championship will start off with a two day short handed hold ‘em event on February 2nd. Participants will be given 20,000 Euros in starting chips and a one hour clock. February 4th will be the start of the Omaha event with the same one hour clock and amount of starting chips as the hold ‘em event.

The tournament’s organizers are urging players to book early to avoid disappointment. Already events such as the 500 Euros + 50 Euros short handed No Limit Hold ‘em event are filling up fast, and players who want to ensure that they get their preferred starting day for the main event should also contact the event coordinators soon.
