Ecocard Puts Stop to Poker and Casino Deposits

Ecocard Puts Stop to Poker and Casino DepositsEcocard released earlier this week that on August 24th, 2007 they will stop gaming related transactions for their customers in the United States.

While Ecocard is only heavily used by Poker.com and some Microgaming/Prima poker sites it is still a blow to the online casino and poker operations already in despair.

The news came a few weeks after Ecocard originally announced they would pull out of the US poker deposit market when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act “regulations” were published into the registrar.  Something triggered Ecocard to set an actual date for withdraw from the US market even though this date may actually end up being after the regulations are published.

The bad news came shortly after Neteller was set to release US funds.  Maybe they don’t want to follow in Neteller’s footsteps on this one?

Ecocard has been primarily used for casino players to make deposits.  Some casinos which used them in the past had dropped them months ago with no reason given.

Most players who used Ecocard said there were high fees associated with the ewallet provider but only used it as a “last option”.  It seems the die hard online gamers will use whatever they can.

Other deposit options such as the Walgreens Visa -prepaid debit cards also took a plunge last week.  This option was used by many of the low stakes gamblers who didn’t want to fuss with the hassles that can come with ewallets.
