Flack Provides Answers About DUI

Layne Flack had two things to answer for. One was why he refused the breath analyzer test in the Driving Under Influence incident and the other was why he was playing golf with Russ Hamilton the pariah of the poker fraternity. In two separate interviews Flack has provided answers to both. How credible they are is another question.

In a video interview to Amanda Leatherman, Flack spoke about the DUI incident and more. First of all he said that this incident has made him a greater star than all his poker feats. He modestly said, “I do drive a Corvette and I do drive fast.” This means that he gets pulled over for speeding all the time and knows all the cops in town.

Flack also said that he has mastered the art of drinking and it takes a lot to get him drunk. Driving after drinking a few is common place. Flack also knows the best lawyers in town and they have advised him never to agree to a breath analyzer test. They say that it is not very accurate. So instead of giving a few minutes for the breath analyzer test the lawyers have advised him to spend a few hours going downtown to give a blood test.

But Amanda is one smart girl and she did not buy that story. She pointed out that the time spent going downtown reduces the alcohol content in the blood and that seems to be a better reason for refusing the breath analyzer test. Amanda cornered Flack on this issue and extracted a “Maybe” from him. But all this bragging on camera about habitually speeding and driving under the influence is not going to help Flack the next time he is pulled up. Wonder why his lawyers did not advice him to keep quiet.

Russ Hamilton’s lawyer had instructed Hamilton not to say a word. This is what Flack said when he was interviewed on Gary Wise’s Rounders Radio podcast. This was the reason for Hamilton’s studied silence during the RawVegas.tv shoot. Speaking about the bit role he played in the video Flack said he “knew that wasn’t a spot for me to be in.”

That is why he made the hurried exit right at the beginning of the clip. The million dollar question was why he was playing golf with Hamilton when no poker player would touch the man with a ten foot pole. Flack answered that he was a gambler and could not let go an opportunity to take some money from Hamilton by beating him at golf.

If Flack had stopped at this maybe he would be excused. But Flack has the foot in mouth disease. He went on to defend Hamilton by saying, “If he [Russ] took all of this money…how can one man do this without being caught?” If Flack reads Wicked Chops Poker he will learn the answer to that question. “…with a company that he [Russ] started and was integral in developing the software for…” – a software with plenty of loopholes one may add.
