Full Tilt Poker & Absolute Poker Funds Claiming Guide: PPA

Championing the rights of online poker players who have been left unpaid by poker sites such as Full Tilt, UB.com and Absolute Poker, the Poker Players Alliance has published a legal guide, explaining the process of trying to get these funds back. The guide to claim these funds expired on Friday. Although the PPA said that it did not believe that it could directly bring lawsuits against online poker sites who were not paying up, it did say that players would be able to bring lawsuits with the help of their own lawyers.

“Players, especially players owed substantial sums, should definitely speak with their own lawyer about whether it is in their interest to file a lawsuit either individually or as a self defined group of similarly situated players,” advises the guide. “They must balance the costs and risks the benefit of having an actual judgment to enforce in a foreign court or a foreign bankruptcy proceeding.”

The PPA stresses that only players who have substantial sums due to them should consider a lawsuit, due to the vast expenses involved.

The PPA also said that “the vast majority of players would have a very difficult time demonstrating a valid claim to the funds in the seized accounts; and an equally (if not more) difficult time prevailing on that claim (which certainly would not happen any time soon).”

“Some players,” said that guide, “however will have unique circumstances that might make the filing of a claim a positive move.”
