Fun 2 Weeks but Back to Work
Written by Roger S | Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
The last two weeks I’ve really done nothing work wise. It’s hard to sit at the computer when it’s 90 degrees outside and the waves are good.
Here are some pics and general stuff that happened this month. I’ll leave some details out, lol.
You always hear people say, “You shoulda been here yesterday”. Well this Friday we got some of the best waves I’ve seen in the past 3 years here in Ponte Vedra/Jacksonville Beach and it was definitely one of those days.
I surfed a place called Mayport Poles, named because it’s an army base with big ass poles sticking out of the water that you’re not supposed to pass. This guy Eddie takes pictures every day for his website, surshotsonline.com and when the waves are really good you can usually go on there and find some of yourself. It’s a pretty cool idea. Here are 3 snaps he took of me during the swell. I’m not doing anything special but whatever.
In this picture I took off late and had to dodge some guy I almost ran over. He thought I was going go spear him, lol. You can kinda see his board to the left as he jumped off and swam to the bottom.

Eddie didnt get the next picture of me hitting the lip pretty good. Instead he got one as I set up a weak cut back going down the face of the wave.

And the last picture of the wave is just a weak cut back. I rolled my ankle playing basketball almost a year ago and cutbacks are very painful to do for some reason so I usually look retarded doing them, ha.

And that’s that…we’ll probably have to wait another 3 years for a good swell to come by Florida. The picture on the top right is one of me and one of my Dad’s shapes. If you live in the central east coast “Shriver Shapes” WRV surfboards are the best, my Dad’s been shaping for over 30+ years
.
After surfing all week you gotta cap it off with a good seafood place, it’s just a must. Me and Sarah went to a place called aqua grill. It’s right next to TPC sawgrass and they have by far imo the best seafood around. Grilled snapper, with crusted crab on top of mash potatoes and a side of asparagus…..yummy. Here’s a pic of Sarah before our night out. And that’s all folks, we played a bit of poker during the week but nothing worth talking about. Back to work.
