Harrahs Picks 888 for WSOP Brand

It’s official! The biggest off line gambling group, Harrah’s Entertainment, announced that it had entered into an agreement with 888 Holdings to provide online gaming services to its brands.

The long term deal will see the LSE floating 888 bring Harrahs’ World Series of Poker brand, as well its UK based Caesars Casino brand, the last word in services, including support and payment software.

“This is a ground-breaking deal for 888 and demonstrates our ability to provide real value to globally renowned, land-based casinos and their leading brands,” said the Chief Executive Officer of 888 Holdings, Gigi Levy.

888’s B-2-B unit, Dragonfish, will launch the WSOP and Caesars Casinos brand in the United Kingdom. In light of this we have launched the first WSOP poker bonus page if additional bonuses are allowed to be given.

888 shareholders can go smiling to the bank, after stock prices rose a very significant 14%. This is the most shares have climbed since last year, and brings welcome relief to a group that has been battling the recession along with the competition.

Harrah’s Entertainment has been moving more and more towards the world of online gambling in light of the fact that revenues in land based poker and casino locations have dropped drastically.

The group formed Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment earlier this year and has been a strong campaigner for Barney Frank’s laws to legalize and regulate online poker in the United States.

The Chief Executive Officer of Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment, Mitch Garber, is a former Playtech executive who knows the ins and outs of the online gambling work intimately.

“As we develop and roll out our interactive strategy, we have chosen to work with 888, primarily for their world-class technology, scalability, and a strong commitment to compliance and responsible gaming,” said Garber.

It is interesting to note that, contrary to what industry analysts predicted, Harrah’s has chosen to partner long term with a group that has not reached an official settlement with the US Department of Justice over illegal gambling activities prior to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act came into being in 2006.
