Brian Hastings, the young poker player who is part of the Full Tilt pro team, had his day of glory last week after he took a big bite out of the mysterious Isildur1’s bankroll.
Isildur1 has been a regular feature at Full Tilt Poker over the past month, challenging some of the highest stake players in the industry to sessions worth millions of dollars. Over the past few weeks, players such as Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and Brian Townsend have all won and lost at fast paced, nail biting sessions, and this time it was Hastings’ turn to try his luck.
Hastings met Isildur1 face to face at the tables at Full Tilt Poker on Tuesday and the 21 year old immediately pulled in a pot of $311,000 in one of the first hands of the match.
His winning streak continued, peppered with a few brilliant hands played by the as-of-yet unnamed Swede, even seeing Hastings pull in a pot worth over $500,000!
It still hasn’t been determined exactly how much cash Hastings won off Isildur1 on Tuesday, with sums ranging between $3.2 million and $4.2 million.
What is sure, however, is that the young player was ecstatic with his success and wrote on his blog: “Wow. I just had the biggest winning day in online poker history. Did this really happen? For it to happen, one needs a combination of very large amounts of both skill and luck. And here I am, winning a record $4.18 million in one day (well not exactly — no I didn’t have 100% of my own action, and no I am not going into any further detail about this) playing online poker.”
Hastings is known as a true poker phenomenon, having achieved his prowess on the green felt playing online poker. According to Full Tilt Poker, Hastings began his career by playing low limit ring games and then working himself up to high stakes No Limit Hold ‘em and sit and go tournaments.
Currently a college student, Hastings has less time for poker than he’d like, but he still finds a few hours a week to hit the tables. This didn’t stop him from accepting Isildur1’s challenge last week, leaving this player delighted with himself and a much fatter bankroll to boot.
