I Got Knocked the F Out

I’m going to keep this post short, because well, I’ve got to run up to the store and get some advil. My head is killing me after getting knocked out today in a sparring session.
It’s the first time getting knocked out and I’m pretty pissed about it.
Me and another guy sparred for 2 rounds doing nothing too heavy but I was working his body pretty good because I know he gets gassed easily and isn’t in shape. His jab is pretty good so I wanted to stay inside anyway.
That went fine and we decided to do a round robin where another guy jumped in and fought me while he rested etc. This was an older guy but still weighed the same as me. The only difference was he’s much more experienced than me, but still a lot shorter.
Apparently the first round we went I was hitting him too hard. I thought I was barely punching him especially since I was already kind of tired from the first two rounds. So he tells me, “try not punching me so hard next round please.” We’re just sparring so I said yeah, no problem.
The bell rings and he starts out throwing lightly and Im not fully protecting myself because I thought we were going to work easy. I’m not sure exactly what happened after that but all I remember was falling backward as he hit me with a hard shot right on the chin. So much for going easy. The trainer stopped it but I said I wanted to keep going and he wouldn’t let us.
At the time I got knocked out I was kind of pissed just for getting knocked out. My jaw hurt for a long time, and I literally got hit “on the button”.
He did end up having a welt across his upper eye brow but still, old men bruise easily! My head and jaw fucking hurts, I’m going to get some pain medicine.
On the bright side of the night, Nate Campbell the former WBA, IBF and WBO champion for the lightweight division was there sparring with one of the other trainers/pros there. Now that guy can seriously fight. It was cool talking to him about cars for awhile too. Here is a pic of us after our sparring sessions (not together obv. as he’d destroy me).

I want to post the video of Nate sparring but it comes out all fuzzy when I try to post videos of ones I upload. You know anything about that? Supposed to be waves up here today btw…

ok put “video upload resolution” in google search. goto the one that says “help key, how to optamize youtube videos.” read all that crap.
you need to save your video with the right compression and aspect ratios. if you get those two right it should upload and playback insane…just do what the guy says.
there may be more help under the same search words. good luck…I don’t think it’s that hard to figure out. over

Hawaii huh. Bastard! Jay just got back from OZ today. Said it was ok surf. I saw that in your ip on your hostname coming from Hawaii and didn’t think anything of it. Are you near Mililani, Honolulu?
Im gonna try to get that video up today with your suggestions. Hope it works. Its pretty funny listening to Nate taunt Bobby in the video.

Wow man, loved the Nate video. Reminded me of watching “Sweet Pea” Whittaker.
How good of a counter puncher is Nate? Just a little trash talkin goin on. When your the champ you can slip in a coupla explanation marks after the bell!

Right now IM on the North Shore…20 minutes from Mililani…Im gettin a job in town next week though. So I’ll be in Honolulu soon. I told Joe to come over after I get my place…you guys are welcome as well. I’ll let ya know when I’m set up. Nice work gettin your uploads right. That Bobby tried his ass off and Nate just played with him….. I think I can take him.

Once you get knocked out for the first time doesn’t it make it a lot easier for it to happen to you in the future? Or am I talking shit.

You get more accustomed to taking shots, like now Im getting hit harder by much bigger guys and don’t get fuzzy. The guy just got me right on the button, a little nerve on my chin I guess…
