Is Norman Chad Gay?

ESPN’s broadcaster for the World Series of Poker, Norman Chad, has been setting himself up with his out of the blue “Gay comments”. He commonly refers to the same sex as being “handsome” or “one hot guy”. Multiple times he’s referred to Marco Traniello, Jennifer Harman’s husband, as being “One Good Looking Guy.”
In the 2007 broadcast of the WSOP the comments have continued. This time he seems to have a thing for foreign players.
It’s ironic that these seemingly gay comments come from the broadcaster of the World Series of Poker who’s main sponsor is Milwakukee’s Best beer. Aren’t they known for the slogan, “Where Men Should Act Like Men”? I can see their next commercial if Norman Chad ever comes out of the closet.
I decided to do a little digging on Norman Chad to see if we could find any dirt on him. First let me state this, I have nothing against the announcer although I don’t find his comments very laugh out loud or even slightly witty. High Stakes Poker AJ Benza and Gabe Kaplan seem to have much better announcing skills. If I recall correctly Gabe Kaplan used to do quite a bit of commentating at the World Series of Poker before it went mega popular.
So after a search in Google for “Norman Chad Gay” we could only find one semi-promising lead to why Norman Chad has sudden outbursts of gay comments. Back in 2005 Homepokergames.com did a piece on Norman Chad where a user posted this.
“Norm and I go way back. We used to share cups of soup together because we were so poor. Many people don’t know this but Norm used to write for “Out” an openly Gay magazine. True story. He is not gay himself but lives in that world.”
He used to write for a Gay magazine but isn’t gay? I wonder how that works. The quote was never confirmed because honestly, I don’t feel like corresponding with a Gay magazine so take it as you will.
To make things even more confusing Norman Chad was married for the third time last month. In his broadcasting’s he commonly refers to his failed marriages.
So is Norman Chad gay? Probably not but it sure would be nice if he stopped with the gay references in his broadcasting.
