Jamie Gold Joins Aced Poker

Before anyone can ask “Jamie Who?” it is Jamie Gold the winner of the WSOP 2006 Main Event. Last week Gold said that he was looking for a trustworthy online poker room that accepted U.S. Players. This led to Gambling 911 announcing that God is signing up with Ultimate Bet. Gold and Annie Duke, who is the brand ambassador of Ultimate Bet, had been seen together a lot and hence the prediction. But for once Gambling 911 was wrong.
The news is out that Gold has signed up with Aced Poker. The formal announcement is expected any time now. Brandon Berndt, Poker Room Manager at AcedPoker, told Poker News Daily, “We are extremely excited to have Jamie on board, not only because of his obvious value as an ambassador for us within the poker world, but also for the unparalleled enthusiasm, insight, and creativity he brings to the ongoing development of our brand.” Gold will obviously be playing cash games and tournaments at the Aced Poker online room. He will also be participating under the Aced Poker banner in the major live tournaments. Gold’s twin objectives will be to increase the quality of the gaming experience of the Aced Poker members and to enhance the value of the Aced brand. He will also automatically add to the value of Merge Gaming Network, the poker platform that Aced uses.
With poker rooms like Carbon Poker, Poker Nordica, IronDuke.com and Reefer Poker on the Merge Gaming Network Aced Poker does not rank very high. But Bankroll Boost lists it at #6 in its list of top ten online poker rooms. Though Aced Poker was launched only in 2008 it has shown clear indications that it wants to be named with the best and is willing to do what it takes to get there. Signing on Gold is a step in that direction. Being a WSOP Main Event winner Gold could have picked any poker room. That Aced Poker convinced him to join them speaks a lot for the poker room. Signing Gold is just the first step. Other acquisitions are expected soon.
Gold had his WSOP win over two years ago and has not done anything of note in tournaments since then because he is mainly a cash game player. But his 2006 win is remarkable because that was the largest field and his was the biggest pot till date. Gold won $12 million when he beat Paul Wasicka in 2006, while Eastgate won only $9 million last year. Gold has appeared on TV poker in shows like NBC’s “Poker After Dark” and GSN’s “High Stakes Poker.” He also did a stint with Bodog Poker. Now that he is a brand ambassador, there is something that Gold would like to forget. This is his legal dispute with Crispin Leyser, which was eventually settled out of court.
