Linux Users No Longer Stranded – Absolutepoker Comes Through
Written by Maria T | Sunday, February 18th, 2007
When the “Sh#* hit the fan” so to speak, also known as the UIEGA, Linux users were pretty much left hanging. Absolute Poker is now one of the only US accepted poker sites in the mix with the release of the “Absolute Poker Instant Play”.
Linux users are a rare breed in the first place. Many prefer Linux because of the games but Linux is a mixed blessing.
The Linux poker software at Absolutepoker.com labeled the “Instant Play” on the top of the website was a welcoming site to Linux users. The past 4 months after the US online poker ban almost no sites were open to US-Linux users.
Now that Absolutepoker finally released their Linux and Mac edition they have somewhere to play. The Linux Absolute Poker software is snugly located on the top left hand side of the Absolute poker homepage.
Absolute Poker may have been in a hurry to release the new version. It went straight from completion to the frying pan without beta testing. So far no complaints are coming back and the software looks to run quite well.
Earlier this year Absolute Poker joined hands with Ultimate Bet. The two still do not share the same player database nor does Ultimate Bet have the Instant Play version.
Absolute Poker will become Full Tilt’s new rival as Full Tilt had a monopoly on the US-Mac/Linux poker market until now.
