Liv Boeree Prepares for EPT Finals

Liv Boeree has it all. She’s a model, a TV presenter, an astrophysics graduate and only 25 years old. She is also £1 million richer after becoming only the third woman in the history of the European Poker Tour to win an EPT event. Boeree now has her eyes on the £2.2 million prize when she takes part in the finals of the EPT in Monte Carlo on April 30 and if everything goes according to plan, she might actually take home the cash.
Incredibly, Boeree only learnt how to play poker four years ago when she took part in a reality show when she was working on the British Channel 5 show, Ultimate Poker Showdown. Speaking about her stint on the show, Boeree said: “They got five ‘poker virgins’ as they called us – people who had never played before – and trained us with two of the world’s best pros. I met all these poker players, saw what they did and I thought, ‘Wow! That’s what I want to do! Poker is all about being analytical and using logic and deduction, so having a background in maths and physics helps train your mind in that way.”
The show was followed as a stint as a host at EPT events, but Liv said that her ultimate dream was to play in these events. She then embarked on a professional poker career and has managed to earn herself £1.8 million over the last three years playing her favorite game.
On the circuit, Boeree is known for her famous ‘Liv Stare” which has been known to make her opponents feel hugely unsettled around the table.
“It’s surprised us, she’s not your average poker player, but she is determined,” said Boeree’s mother who lives in Manchester. “She enjoys the game and likes the skill involved and the thrill she gets from it.”
