Poker personality, Mike Sexton told PND of plans that are being formulated for coming seasons of the World Poker Tour. He pointed to a number of additions that have been made to improve one of the longest running shows in the history of TV (“We’ve done more TV shows than legendary franchises such as ‘Seinfeld’ and ‘I Love Lucy’”).
Sexton said that the World Poker Tour has added half a dozen international tournaments to its busy schedule, allowing players to pit themselves against others in their home countries. He also said that WPT had reinstated its Paris stop and have added events in the UK, Spain, Italy and Austria.
He made a special point of mentioning the hottest new stop for US poker fans – Florida. “They recently passed a state law that allows for higher stakes and that has created quite a buzz,” he said. “Our WPT event will be at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood. If you haven’t been there, take it from me: It’s an amazing property.” The event will be held in April next year.
Matt Savage has been hired as the WPT Tour Director. Savage currently serves as the Tournament Director for two of the WPT’s events. Another new face to come on board is Kimberley Lansing who will serve as a new anchor. Lansing’s tasks will include kicking off shows and conducting interviews, and players may remember her from her small cameo in Season VI.
All in all, there are exciting plans and changes lined up for WPT Season Nine and Sexton clearly sounds excited about them!
