Just as we thought we would finally see the face behind the name, Isidlur1 has informed Party Poker that he has had second thoughts about appearing in the site’s live televised poker show, The Big Game. This weekend was supposed to be have been the debut of Isildur1 as an unmasked online poker player but disappointed fans learned at the last minute that this was not to be the case.
At the beginning of the month, Party Poker’s Tony G made the ecstatic announcement that players would finally be able to catch a glimpse of the true identity of high stakes player, Isildur1 after the latter had confirmed his participation in the online poker site’s televised tournament.
But what promised to be a major highlight in the poker world turned sour when Tony G received a curt sms from the player, saying: “Sry for not coming, take care bud.”
Party Poker managers scrambled to confirm that this was indeed a cancellation, with Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Match Sport speaking personally to Isildur1 to make sure that there was no misunderstanding.
Tony G made no qualms or apology over his huge disappointment in the no-show. “To say I am disappointed is an understatement,” he wrote on his blog. “I have spent so much time talking to him and reassuring him recently but he’s just not going to come. We agreed a 50/50 staking deal, it all started out with personal contact and then in recent hours managers/agents got involved as you would expect.”
“It has left a bad taste in my mouth,” continued Tony G. “What you have to understand is that he reached out to me first and asked and then agreed to play. As far as I am concerned I am washing my hands with him and moving on.”
