New Cheat Glitch in Absolulte and Ultimate Bet Poker

The Cereus Poker Network, which incorporates Ultimate Bet (UB) Poker and Absolute Poker, responded almost instantly to reports that another security flaw had been found in its software. As a recap, both sites were involved in serious cases of security breaching a couple of years ago, where it was charged that players were swindled out of millions of dollars due to an insider’s ability to view hole cards.
This time around, Poker Table Ratings issued a statement that it had managed to ‘crack’ the Cereus Poker Network’s code and that it had be able to trace a software flaw that could essentially allow hackers to view a poker player’s hole cards.
Cereus, which has been working very hard to improve its reputation in the online poker community by trying to put out an image of impeccable security measures, was very quick to release a response to the Poker Table Ratings’ account and the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Paul Leggett said:
“One hour ago, I learned about an article posted today on Poker Table Ratings (PTR) regarding an issue with the local encryption that we use on the Cereus Poker Network. For those of you not familiar with the issue, PTR was able to crack our local encryption method. I wanted to blog to make sure our players and the poker community know how seriously we take this issue.”
“I would like to start by reminding everyone that someone would have to have the technical capabilities to crack the encryption method we currently use and they would also have to hack into your local network in order to gain access to sensitive [player gaming] data,” he said. “We are currently working on implementing a new encryption method and we expect to have it live in a matter of hours.”
Cereus later informed the poker community that it had upgraded its software to resolve the issue and said that it was in discussions with PTR to do further audits for its systems to ensure a safe and secure gaming environment for its players.
At this moment in time I would recommend holding off playing on either Absolute Poker or Ultimate Bet.
