New Hampshire Finds Ingenious Way of Evading the UIGEA

The introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, and its subsequent implementation at the beginning of this month, caused gambling proponents to argue that the government conveniently overlooked lottery groups and horse racing operators who also offer gambling services. Both these categories of gambling are not included in the legislation governing the UIGEA.
And now the State of New Hampshire has managed to irk gambling groups even more by coming up with an ingenious way of offering customers the chance to play online casino games, all the while eluding the UIGEA.
While the UIGEA does not allow the processing of payment to and from gambling sites, New Hampshire has found a loophole. The state will sell physical lottery tickets to players, which will fund their time to play online casino games.
This system avoids the need for New Hampshire to accept payment via the internet and thus means that the state is not breaking any law. Payment is collected by selling lottery tickets in a physical transaction involving the actual ticket and the player.
The purchased lottery ticket provides players with a code that offers them credit at the online casino site, which allows them to play. More importantly, this avoids the need for players to use their credit cards or alternative payment methods to pay for their online gambling fund.
Lottery tickets for PlayNowNH go on sale in July, and players will have a good choice of titles, including baseball, super slots, New Hampshire Poker and speed bingo. Ticket prices cost up to $100 and players can access the site from their own personal computers.
Players will need to be 18 years or older in order to purchase a ticket.
The introduction of the game surprised lawmakers in New Hampshire, including Lou D’Allesandro who had his bill proposing the introduction of video slots rejected earlier this month.
