Officials are reporting that the bill to ban internet gambling is losing steam. It is now likely the bill will not pass before Senators begin their recess on August 4th.
Because of recent war and other political issues the internet gambling bill was put on the back burners by the Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist. Frist laid out a plan of bills they would address before the summer recess and the Gambling Bill was not present.
Various Republican officials have stated they don’t predict the bill to pass in the upcoming weeks. The bill must pass in the next 7 days or it will get pushed back until next year.
The bill has been under the gun as a political move by leaders looking to gain votes in the upcoming elections. The bill would appeal to the conservative citizens.
Leaders of the Poker Players Alliance say they are not yet out of the woods. Michael Bolcerek, President of the PPA rallied backers to fight the gambling ban at the World Series of Poker.
The rally was held at the Buzio Restaurant in the Rio. Big name pros like Chris Fergusson, Greg Raymer, and Howard Lederrer were there to try and encourage more members to sign up and tell Congress how they felt about the bill.
Currently over 75,000 members support the PPA and the numbers grow daily.
According to Cardplayer.com, Greg Raymer says if the politicians see the majority of citizens will vote them out of office if the bill passes(the bill will not pass).
