PartyPoker.com and Macintosh Natively Co-exist

The time has come when we can finally tell all our Mac players that the Party Poker native download software has arrived on Macs.

The Mac download page can only be viewed on a Mac. As with Pacific Poker, automatic Mac detection is in place at Party Poker (www.partypoker.com). On the homepage you will notice a “download button” with rotating banners that show a picture of Windows and Mac.

Updated:  All games at Party Poker are now fully functional on the download and no download versions.  Party Poker is no longer a poker site accepting US players.

Real money single cash tables are the only thing currently running. Play money games are available but real tournaments and Sit and Go’s are not yet open in this release. The Mac developmental manager has told Compatiblepoker.com that tournament play will be out very soon on the Mac.

The software was quietly released over the weekend.  During the first trial months Macintosh users will receive a $25 Party Poker sign up bonus with the code 25CP during registration on the Mac software. One user from twoplustwo.com said this.

“Holy crap, there it is. I just checked this morning and it wasn’t there but now it is. Wow the power this place has to make things happen.”

The release came shortly after the browser play option “no download”. Similar types of features are used in the browser software. Players using browsers other than Microsoft Internet Explorer will have the “Party Poker Anywhere” option located on the homepage. Party Poker developed this option mostly for Mozilla, Linux and other non-conforming browsers.

The native version will have all the same features as the Windows clients such as table sorting, table cascading, note taking, and chat features. The only thing missing are the tournaments stated above and the Party Poker Monster.

Upgraded OS X is needed to play the native Mac Party Poker. Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4 is required. The program seems to work best on Safari 2.0.4. Without these upgrades users might experience extreme lag with “time allowance” running out.

Mixed feelings about the clients have been expressed. While some are ecstatic about the software others are not. Few complained of slow software and ugly graphics. These ideas suggested personal preference and out of date operating systems.
