Phil Ivey Kills Omaha Games at Full Tilt Poker

There have been a number of complaints about the capped pot limit Omaha games at Full Tilt Poker recently, so much so that several poker pros have taken to complaining about them on their blogs. The US facing online poker room has relegated its top cash games to the capped category and players such as Phil Galfond are not pleased that the action for now seems to be at these games only.
“I really dislike cap PLO,” Galfond said. “I think it’s a boring game with few complexities, and those complexities are more about math and running hand scenarios through calculators off the table than they are about psychology, leveling, and adjusting to opponents and game flow. If cap PLO are the only games running, I’ll play, but I hope people start playing something else.”
Not everyone is complaining, though. Phil Ivey has won huge amounts through pot limit Omaha in recent weeks, cashing in against player Luukie 21 to the tune of nearly $700,000.
The two played over 650 games with stakes of $500 – $1000. Ivey left the marathon session with $620,000 in hand, after losing some of his winnings to other players.
Many are asking why Ivey even bothers to play at other live tournaments that stretch over four days for only half that prize money, when he can earn double in a single 700 hand session.
Tom Durrrr Dwan has also been successful at the tables in recent weeks, posting massive earnings. His most successful run was against Patrik Antonius in the on-going Durrrr Challenge, which saw him win $460,000 in one sitting. Dwan has reportedly earned over $1 million in one week at Full Tilt Poker.
