PlayNow.com Continues with Login Problems and Glitches

After much fanfare, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation announced that it would be re-launching the troubled PlayNow.com gambling site on Thursday.
Just to recap, the site launched last month already, with BCLC claiming that this was the first legal online casino site in North America. However, only several hours after the launch, the site was shut down after serious security breaches were discovered. In some cases, players were able to access the personal details of others and even wager with their money.
PlayNow.com has undergone major overhaul this past month while it was closed, and BCLC finally announced on Thursday that it was given the all-clear by the software provider to re-launch.
However, it was with a sense of déjà vu that the 7 pm launch hour came and went, with no site on the horizon. It was only at 2 am on Friday that players were able to start accessing the site, and even after that, many complained that they had problems logging in.
However, the BCLC insists that this time there were no security issues involved.
“There were no privacy issues or anything like that,” said a spokesman for BCLC, Seumas Gordan. “There weren’t any technical glitches – it just took a little bit of time.”
Gordon said that these were simply normal problems that were often related with starting up a large website.
“It’s not like flicking a switch,” he said. “They have to through processes and there’s quality control. It’s kind of slow to move the beast, I guess you’d say.”
According to BCLC, by Friday 10.30 am, 110 people had signed up for new accounts and just over $50,000 had been wagered.
