Poker Gets the Royal Touch

If you thought those hardworking and dedicated Royal Protection Offices were risking their lives day and night to secure the safety of their Royal Highnesses, you may want to think again. In the highly publicized case of Paul Page, accused of cheating investors out of their savings, the former bodyguard gave a fascinating view into the goings on in Buckingham Palace.
The Crown Court heard Page of Essex speak in his defense and tell how the Royal Protection Officers took to enjoying multiple hands of poker while they earned up to £60K a year for doing, according to Page, “very little”.
Page said that poker games were held on a regular basis under the same room as Her Royal Highness, the Queen of England and that “officers were running poker games for money in down time.”
Other faux-pas by the officers including selling porn that was brought back especially from Holland, steroid rackets, and photographing one another sitting on royal thrones.
Page has been officially accused of forming a Currency Club among his fellow officers and making promises of high returns through spread b betting. His trial continues in the UK.
This is not the first time that the royal family has been linked to poker. Three weeks ago it was reported that Prince Harry, third in line to the throne, met his latest flame at a poker evening held by a mutual friend earlier this year.
Harry and TV presenter, Caroline Flack immediately hit it off over the green felt, and it wasn’t long before Prince Charming was sending her sexy texts in a bid to get her attention.
A source at the time said: “Caroline thinks Harry is really cute. And she was amused by the texts he has been sending her, asking how she was feeling after their alcohol-fuelled night and joking about how rubbish they both were at playing poker.”
Unfortunately, their shared interest in kinky text messages and their joint lack of talent for playing poker didn’t manage to glue the two together and the latest news is that Harry is swinging single once more.
