Poker Sites Deal with eCheck Problems

With the news that some online poker players are experiencing problem with the cashing of their Instant eCheck notes, the question that needs to be asked is whether the Feds are behind the problem.

In a little over an hour I will try to see what kind of information I can find from up in New York. But currently sites like Absolutepoker.com have no problems with echecks while others sites have completely disabled them.

Speculations at various online poker message boards indicate that there is a strong chance that the US Attorney’s Office in New York is responsible for the problems. One gambling site said that the Feds were “behind the recent issues related to Instant eChecks being cut off and checks bouncing from major online poker websites.”

But whether they are or whether they’re not, online poker players are not happy that they are experiencing problems with their cash withdrawal. The majority of the problems seem to be found at two of the largest poker rooms on the internet, Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker. Other sites such as Doyles Room and other big names in the industry have also been affected.

Poker Stars and Full Tilt have been cooperating with their customers as much as possible in a bid to find a solution to their problems, although Poker Stars more so, according to industry analysts. Poker Stars has informed its players that they are willing to offer them payout through other options available on the site.

The Instant eCheck method of deposit was recently removed by Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker, with PokerStars players being told that “due to processing problems, our echeck poker option is currently unavailable.”

The problem may not seem so grand in the huge scheme of things for non-US poker players who enjoy a wide range of good deposit and withdrawal methods, but for US players, this means one less secure banking method to use in order to pay for their online poker entertainment.

As of yet, none of the online poker rooms involved have been willing or able to confirm that the eCheck debacle is connected with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act or not.
