Pokerstars has seemed to be officially shut down in an attempt, (successful) it seems by the US government to crack down on the “Big 3″ online gambling sites. In order to make a statement they went after the three largest poker sites in the world that accepted US players, Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolutepoker.
As of right now the sites that are still operation in which players are switching over to are CarbonPoker.com as the main one. Also, Lockpoker.com is another.
When logging into the poker sites players are shown a “warning” sign by the US government that says the site, assets of the site, and owners are being arrested and having their assets seized. This all stems from accepting US players after what they call the illegality of the UIGEA in 2006 when we saw Party Poker shut down in the same fashion, although it was semi-nonforced.
As for now we await as this news has only broke a couple hours ago. The poker world is running around with their heads cut off, but just like the UIGEA…..things shall pass. No official statement has been released by Pokerstars. The latest information about the http://www.compatiblepoker.com/pokerstars-down-fulltiltpoker/ and FTP shutdown will be followed.
