Pokerstars Shut down Cliff Notes: Full Tilt Poker Closed Cliff Notes

We have created a dedicated page for our visitors who want to follow the recent mess with the Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker shut down in the United States. If you would like to keep updated on these two poker websites we have a special page for them at our Pokerstars / Full Tilt Poker closed FAQ page. This is a sister page to our 5 year long page at www.compatiblepoker.com/us-poker-sites where we were the leader in providing hourly updates for the UIGEA, a somewhat similar scenario.

At a glance, here are cliffnotes to what happened and what you should and SHOULDN’T be doing:

  • 1.  The US closed down Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker along with Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker though ICANN (responsible for domains) loophole.
  • 2.  The domains were taken immediately and slowly propagated in the USA.
  • 3.  Online Poker, Pokerstars, and Full Tilt Poker were in the top 25 most searched terms for the day in Google “Hot Trends” as millions of people scattered around the web seeking information.
  • 4.  All sites are now working with the Department of Justice to rectify the situation and get their domains back.  The owners are being indicted and face up to 80 years in prison and $3 billion in fines.
  • 5.  Your funds are safe, it may take awhile to get them though.
  • 6.  Don’t panic, be patient with support and things will settle
  • 7.  Support has moved to support@pokerstars.eu and support@fulltiltpoker.co.uk or call +442032877138 (notice they no longer use dot com)
  • 8.  Tens of thousands of poker players have moved over to Bodogpoker.com in light of Stars and FTP’s collapse.  They are now the largest US accepted site.
    ……..
  • Poker players are waiting for this situation to reslove so that they can cash out their funds. Because of large volumes of requests most players will either not receive a response from Pokerstars or Full Tilt Poker during shut down stages for some time.

Players from countries other than the US are also affected because of cashout issues being at exponential volumes right now due to fear of money loss. Poker website players are also fearing the loss of player points and bonuses they accumulated, some which are in the hundred of thousands worth per player according to Bluff Magazine Online.

More on the Federal level will be continued to be followed at the page, US Poker Sites.
