Professional Poker Tour TV Schedule Starts

The season events of the Professional Poker Tour begin on Wednesday, July 5th and airs on the Travel Channel at 9pm EST.
The Travel Channel is said to be the pioneers of the poker boom. The WPT created such a buzz around poker and now look at where it is today. The Travel Channel will host another TV show called the Professional Poker Tour which begins 1 day after the Fourth of July.
The Professional Poker Tour will take place of the World Poker Tour. Air times will begin at 9pm EST. Followers of the World Poker Tour need not worry as the series will continue later in the year.
The Professional Poker Tour is different than any other event because players are rigorously picked by ability. The cream of the crop is playing with no other amateurs like could be seen on the World Poker Tour series. Some say that’s what made the WPT so popular. Watching the professionals intermingle their skills with the amateurs created atmosphere.
The Professional Poker Tour has 250 big name poker professionals. The series will start on Wednesday and continues until all 24 episodes are complete in the upcoming months.
Players were hand picked by past accomplishments. Hall of fame members, high ranking in previous WPT events, or past winners of the WPT were all favored in the choice of the top 250 professionals.
Viewers can expect to watch a featured table each night. During the course of the show whenever a player goes all-in the camera will switch to that table for the intense action.
Players at the final table will not only face off with opponents but the clock. There will be a 90 second time rule forcing players to make decisions quickly or their hand will be ruled dead on the spot.
Announcers will include both celebrities and poker professionals. Mark Seif, Matt Corby, and Kaye Han will announce for the Professional Poker Tour.
It is not only an honor for players to be picked for the Professional Poker Tour but also very lucrative. Five events will be considered “Freerolls” for the professionals. The PPT will put up the prize money with no risk going to the professional’s bankroll.
The PPT will be aired in sections similar to the main event of the WSOP. TV watchers will see parts of each tournament which then leads up to final table action on different dates.
