Social Networking Poker Game Operators Watch US Laws

Changes in the US gambling laws may be highly profitable for the gaming operators who run poker-themed games on social networking groups such as Facebook. According to website Businessinsider.com, these operators are eyeing the US gambling landscape with much interest and believe that they have a lot to gain if Barney Frank’s HR 2267 is signed into law by President Obama.

The site quotes source close to Zynga, creator of top games such as Farmville, saying that the group would have no hesitation moving its focus to the exciting world of real money poker and gaming if they were presented with the opportunity.

Zynga has a popular poker offering on Facebook in the form of Texas Hold ‘em Poker//ZyngaPoker – so popular in fact that the group boasts that the game has 28 million active users at present.

“A source close to Zynga tells us the company is keeping an eye on the legislation, and that it would be excited to move into real-money poker given the opportunity,” says Businessinsider.com.

Zynga is definitely at the forefront of internet based games, having recently signed a highly lucrative deal with Google that would see its games appear on the new Google Games site to be launched in the coming months.

But there are other software companies who also have a huge following of recreational poker fans – many of whom would try the world of real money poker if they had the opportunity. Playdom, for example, released a branded World Series of Poker game which is said to be enjoyable and – as an aside – Playdom was recently purchased by the Disney Company in a deal worth hundreds of millions.
