Steve Sung, high stakes online player extraordinaire is on a roll in his poker career.
This young Korean born player first became known to poker fans when he was chosen to represent the Asian Poker in a specially selected team known as the Poker Pack. This team includes some of the big names of Asian origin, including Nam Le, David “Chino” Rheem and Kwang Soo Lee.
Together, the six members of the Poker Pack have accumulated a hefty $23 million in prize money so far in their careers.
This week, Sung sang his way to victory at the World Series of Poker Event #4, beating over 6,000 other participants to take home first prize in the $1000 No Limit Hole ‘em event.
Not only did Steve Sung take home an incredible $771,106, he also goes down as being the winner of the biggest non main event tournament in the 40 year history of WSOP.
And only hours after his big win, Steve Sung confirmed that he would be participating in the Asian Poker Tour Macau event, joining several of his Poker Pack team members.
Sung was naturally over the moon with his WSOP bracelet win. “I pick up my first bracelet in a field of over six thousand – what a great way to kick off the WSOP!” he gushed this week in Las Vegas where the WSOP is in full swing. “Hopefully I continue to run good all the way up to the Asian Poker Tour event in Macau, which will be the biggest tournament in Asia to date. I’ll be there with my buddies from The Poker Pack and it would be great if one of us wins it.”
Even if Sung wins nothing in Macau, he will undoubtedly be happy with the $3 million he has accumulated in prize money to date. His last win was a whopping $585,000 prize in the $9,600 No Limit Hold ‘em event at the Bay 101 Shooting Stars championships last year.
