A man by the name of David Kinsman will introduce “The Poker Dome” to Las Vegas residents this week. The Poker Dome is a new style of speed poker with live action in a sound proof dome.

The Poker Dome will team up with Mansion Poker and FSN to air a 43 week TV series of this new age poker. Spectators will be able to watch live action as well as view hole cards as the action takes place right in front of them. They can do so because of the sound proof walls and plasma TV’s.

David Kinsman is backed by the mayor of Las Vegas. Oscar Goodman, the Las Vegas mayor, is supporting the Poker Dome in hopes to rejuvenate the historic downtown part. He hopes the Poker Dome will work its magic in this area and bring it back to life.

The Poker Dome will consist of 6 players competing for a $25,000, $50,000 and $1 million prize. The winners of the first heats will them compete in the semi-qualifier rounds where again the winner will walk away with a hefty prize, $50,000 and a seat into the main Poker Dome event. The final event will take place a little less than a year from now on March 17, 2007 where the winner will walk away with a cool $1million.

The poker action will take place in the sound proof room with multiple cameras recording the action for live viewing. Players will only have 15 seconds to act with blinds increasing every 20 minutes. For viewing excitement the Poker Dome will consist of 12 big screen plasma TV’s and a monitor that measures players pulse rates.  The Dome will also have ampitheater like qualities. The action will be show on FOX Sundays using the edited versions.

The Nevada Gaming Board almost stopped the Poker Dome from ever happening. According to the NGCB the Poker Dome must go through the Las Vegas licensing steps to be allowed to air on television. Going through this would have taken up to 6 months to a year which meant deadlines would not have been met. The Poker Dome argued that while there was poker being played no cash was on the table. The Poker Dome settled these issues and is set for televised coverage.
